Mariette Manktelow

Mariette Manktelow is a scientist  in tropical botany  and a specialist on the Linnaean cultural heritage in Sweden and other countries. She has a unique knowledge on Linnaeus' teaching methods and the extant living flowers from his garden. She has a university award in teaching skills and is renowned for her captivating talks.

Mariette Manktelow is an experienced project leader. She was the project leader at the Municipality of Uppsala during the Linnaeus Tercentenary in 2007. She wrote the concept of Sweden's tentative World Heritage Site "The Rise of Systematic Biology", and lead the project under the Governor of Uppsala County. She stands behind several creative inititatives, such as the conservation project Linnaean Landscapes, the university course Linnaeus' life and science, the information project Art & Science in biology where artists and scientists cooperate. She is the author of a book on Women in botany in the 18th century. She is a Fellow of the Linnean Society, has been Vice President in the Swedish Linnaeus Society 2012-2018 and a member on the board of Swedish Radio (Sveriges Radio) from 2010-2012. She is awarded the Linnaeus Tercentenary Silver Medal and the firs Gold Medal to the memory of Gregory for strengthening the relationship between Uppsala and Solikamsk in Russia.
